Changes in Latitude

We left Santiago on the 6th for Punta Arenas. PA used to be one of the largest cities in Chile before the constuction of the Panama canal. It is alot colder down here. We found out that the only bus to Ushuaia before Sunday, was the following day. We made the most of our time in PA, going to the cemetary, which had beautiful headstones and large column like hedges. Then we tried to go to the National Reserve of Magellan, to go on a hike, however it was closed. We decided to walk the 7km back into town, seeing some of the countryside and the more rural side of PA. We made a bunch of ham and cheese sandwhiches for dinner and the following day. Our initial intentions were to eat, drink a bottle of wine and go to bed for our 8am bus (12hrs) to Ushuaia. However, we met a few people at our hostel, Laura (Holland), Pablo (Chile), and Amit (Israel). While talking to them I realized that it was my sisters birthday and convinced her to go out for a drink with our new friends. We went out drinking and dancing, and barely woke up for our Bus to Ushuaia. Pretty sweet birthday for my sister, a hung over 12 hour bus ride through the most boring terrain imaginable. Feliz CumpleaƱos Hermanita!
