Butch Cassidy and the phantom gas thief!

Well, we are back in Argentina. Laura and I left Valdivia around 5am and headed for the border. We thought the border might be a little complicated with a vehicle from another continent, however, it went extremely smooth and we were able to get to Beriloche by noon o´clock. We met up with our brother and made our way around Beriloche. It is generally a skiing town in winter, but has plenty to offer in the summer. Because of the car delays Nick has spent a good bit of time here waiting for us. We decided to check out the town for a day and camp at the nearby lake, and head south the next day to get a move on.
We headed down route 71 towards El Bolson. It is a small town, we stopped for

lunch and looked for a craft store that we could never find, so we moved on. 75 km or so out, we left the pavement and headed to the rattles and bumps of the dirt road.

We headed towards a small town where Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid hid from the law for a short while. After some searching, people directed us to what we think could have been the house. The only thing there was a newly painted sign that said Butch Cassidy (didn´t really look like the same picture in our travel book).

After our dip into the criminal life we headed for Parque Nacional Los Alerces, toped off with some air guitar. The park is about 60km west of the town of Esquel. The park is known for the specific trees (Alerces) that grow here. They are quite large, up to 3m in diameter. We hiked up to a view point of Lago Verde and after convincing Nick to camp, we settled in on Playa Frances. There were good views and a great rock for diving into the lake. I made some poor attempts, but the pictures show how graceful I really was! We set up camp and were heading to bed, when a neighbor came over and asked us for gasolina, we thought, then he asked for a cigarette. We slept under the stars, and a little advice, a three person tent doesn´t really mean a three Romcevich tent!
