The Ruta strikes back
W
e have somehow found our way back to Ruta 40. We started our Argentine adventure on Ruta 40 and looks as though one of our last stops will take us along the Ruta once again. We headed North with our heads aching a little from the wine and took the more scenic route towards Salta.
The landscape was phenomenal, seeming as though we where on another planet at times. We made our way through some small towns, stopping where we saw fit.

We stopped at Molina to view the cactus wood roof of the church and have some Aji (hot pepper) goat cheese and crackers.

e continued on to Cachi where we stopped for an amazing sandwich next to the plaza. Mine had goat cheese, basil, tomato, carrots, and beets. We left planning to head up to a vista overlooking the town, however as we drove away we were informed of a parting gift from the Ruta... a flat tire. We changed the tire on a cobble stone street, which was a nightmare, and headed for Salta (we would find an inch long rock jammed into the tire when we got it fixed). We skipped the vista and simply hit the road.
The drive into Salta would prove just as beautiful, ascending up a pass over three thousand meters high and down into the clouds. We decided we would stay in Salta for a couple of days, get the tire fixed, recharge our batteries and find some food from another continent. We are heading to a Chinese restaurant after I post this, so excited! We leave tomorrow for a day trip to the North and then off to Chile.
