Just the two of us

It seems like forever ago, the last time it was just me, my favorite sister, and the open road. We headed out of Guayaquil looking to make a little loop of Ecuador before heading for the coast the ship the car up to Panama. Through some great advice we headed to the town of Cuenca. It is a great town in the sierra with a lot of colonial history and museums. The plan was to spend one day in the Cajas National Park, one day in the city, and then head to the jungle. Well, we apparantly weren´t rested enough, as we slept way past when we needed to leave for the park. Instead we hit up the city, museums with shrunken heads from the jungle, markets with great garage sale items, and an amazing juice bar. Liga is a local futbol team from Quito, and they were playing in the finals of the Copa Libertadora, which is a tournament of all Latin American teams from Mexico all the way to Chile. They were playing a team from Brazil. We found a restaurant with a TV to watch. It was packed, so they set us up a table in the hallway with a decent view of the game. The game ended up going to penalty kicks, and Liga won. The place went nuts, and thus the party continued. The next morning we were a little chuchaki and once again didn´t get up in time to make it to the park, it wasn´t our destiny. Off to the jungle for a little down to earth fun.
