Warm water... the good kind
A
t the advice of some fellow travelers we decided to make a day trip up to Laguna de Apoyo, a massive crater lake just a half day drive away (if you exclude the half hour of driving up and down the dirt road with no visible signs marking entrances to anything). We stayed at a great hostel, owned by a friendly neighborly canuck, Ann. It was a great spot with everything one could need. The laguna is heated by the volcano making it a great swimming hole equipped with floating dock for lounging or acrobatics. Most people make a day trip up to the laguna, but after being there for an hour, we stayed two days. We met some great people, "Fox", his sister Lisa, Jessica (all from Chicago), brother Chris and Jonathan from Florida (Miami right?). There isn´t much to say other than we had it all. Warm calm waters, lounging in hammock chairs, and $10 bottles of Florrrrrrrrrrrr de Cana (local rum, and I know what everyone is thinking, but this is our first real night of drinking since Ecuador).

Well, mine anyways, but you can´t blame Laura for a wedding. We tried to "keep it down" (in a weird Indian Southern accent), but the excitement spilled to the late night waters. In a harmless game of king of the raft, everyone came away with minor injuries. We had light saber fights, and the endless supply of noodle jokes kept us laughing through the night. The following day when it was time for Team Fox to leave, everyone did their best to convince them otherwise. In the end, it worked and they stuck around to keep the full Team Noodle together. The day was once again filled with back flips off the dock. Laura and I perfected our new family act of a hoisted back flip with twist, we wanted to call ourselves the aristocrats, but we settled for the Twisted Sister.
We tried to make a repeat of the night before, but everyone was a little gassed from the night before. The night lasted however, with moonlight lounging and beers on the dock (it is surprisingly hard to swim 100 yards with three beers in your hands). We forced ourselves to leave the next morning with the a lot of hype for our next destination
