Yellowstone and Home

We hit the road early, hoping to see Yellowstone that day.  It was a whirlwind of a tour for Laura (I had just visited a couple years ago).  But we saw the Yellowstone staples, Artist Point, Yellowstone Canyon, bison, deer, and of course Old Faithful.

It ended up raining by the time we got to Old Faithful, and we were not too excited about setting up camp in the rain, so we continued on through the night to Jackson.  We were a little homesick, and Laura still needed to pack somethings up before heading off to work, so we decided to hit the road and get home.  If you have ever driven through central WY, you will realize why there aren't that many pictures.  It was a little sad to pull into Denver because the trip is officially over.  However, writing in this blog made me look back to some of the other posts, and realize what an epic journey this was.  I can't believe we drove from the tip of South America, to the top of North America.

Thanks Hermana, it's been an amazing journey and I can't imagine a better person to share it with me!

God's Country

We spent the day driving through the mountains, electing the scenic route to the interstate through Calgary.  We entered Montana and headed straight for Glacier National Park.  The park was formed by glaciers along time ago, and on the east side of the Rocky Mountains, has a temperate like climate, creating a rainforest like atmosphere with pine trees.  Unfortunately they were doing road maintenance and snow removal on the "Highway to the Sun", which extends into the park.  With limited access, we decided to move on and get a little closer home.  We stayed in Ronan Montana for the night.

Park to Park

We began the day with a few mile hike to the Five Lakes area for some beautiful morning reflections.  We continued south through the park via the Ice Parkway all the way to Banff National Park.  The drive was filled with waterfalls, rivers, mountains, glaciers and wildlife.  Also one of the most colorful lakes we have ever seen, Peyto Lake, really that blue!  We decided to crash in Banff for the night.  There isn't much more to explain, just check out the pictures!
