The drive south on the Cassiar Highway was another rainy day, we passed on trying to get to Prince George, as we were unfortunately off season to see grizzly bears. Instead we took a little offshoot to Stewart (BC) and Hydar (AK). We passed Bear Glacier on our way in not really knowing what we were about to happen upon. We stopped in and asked around to see if there were any bears in town. Unfortunately we were early, but found out about another glacier up on the hill. We drove up what seemed like an endless mountain pass, ending at one of the most phenomenal views I have ever seen. The Salmon Glacier is massive and flows down two separate valleys in two opposite directions. When it melts and calves it can raise the Salmon River up to 6 feet instantly. We decided to stay the night instead of moving on, we stayed at a hotel converted from a brothel.
