Heed the warning of the old man on the stoop!

With Laura's thesis submitted for review, we headed for the notorious neighborhood of La Bocca. I is advised to not walk there, but to take a bus or a cab. We didn't want to spend the money on a cab, and didn't have change to ride the bus. So we walked! We didn't die, obviously. We walked passed the Bocca Jrs. futbol stadium and through the neighborhood and got to see some of the dedication they have for the team. We walked to what we thought was the camioneta (walking street) however, the bright colors began to fade. We started to walk down a street when a man on his stoop in front of his store asked us where we were going. He told us not to walk the way we were headed because we would definitely get robbed. So we headed the way he told us to get back to the river and all the touristy stuff. We walked out and sure enough found the camioneta. My advice to all that read this is to adhere to the advice of any old man on a stoop, for he has lived long enough to know his stoop and the streets surrounding it. We walked around and admired the brightly painted buildings and shops. We watched a kid suit up in full uniform to kick the ball around with one of his friends. We enjoyed a beer and some people watching for a while and headed back to finish some studying.
